  • In 1990 the population of Kapolei was 43,000 and today the area boasts over 101,000 residents which represents the fastest growing region in the state.
  • The 2010 census data showed Kapolei is a very affluent community made up of young households with a median age of 31.9 and median household income of $83,300. Home ownership rates in Kapolei are some of the highest in the state at 74%.

AREA DEVELOPMENT

UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII WEST OAHU – Opened in August of 2012. The master planned campus will ultimately be home to over 7,600 students and 660 faculty members. Currently there are over 2,000 students enrolled at the campus.

Residential projects in development for the area will include:

HOAKALEI (HASEKO)
Master-planned community adjacent to Ocean Pointe to include a full-service marina, hotel, the Hoakalei Country Club with 18-hole Ernie Els Signature Golf course, residential communities and a vibrant waterfront commercial district. The first residential community-Ka Makana- will begin sales in May 2008.

HO’OPILO (DR HORTON)
Planned residential community in East Kapolei that will feature 11,750 homes.

OCEAN POINTE (HASEKO)
Will feature 4,850 homes with 2,200 homes already completed.

MAKAIWA HILLS (KAPOLEI DEVELOPMENT COMPANY)
When completed will have approximately 4,200 homes.

KAPOLEI WEST (AINA NUI CORPORATION)
Plans to begin construction in 2014. At full build out the project will feature 2,500 residences, an elementary school, and parks.
